Finding Cheap Flights to Virtually Anywhere
One of the biggest myths about travel is that it’s just too expensive. There is some truth to this but you can easily get around it.
People often ask me how I am able to travel so much on a seemingly tight budget. The first thing you need to know is how to find cheap flights.
Finding cheap flights is a skill that I’m working on becoming better at all the time. However, I have a few hints and tips that should get you well on your way to finding some great flight deals.
1. Fly out on Tuesday – Thursday or Saturday. Flights leaving on Fridays are notoriously expensive. As are flights on Sundays. This is obviously so the airlines can make huge bucks on people taking weekend trips. Plan accordingly and get the right days off work so you can leave mid-week or on Saturday. This will save you a big bucks.
2. Use a flight search engine like Kayak.com – This is where I find most of my best deals. You can set up an alert to alert you when your flights goes below a certain price level. I highly recommend this.
3. Follow your favorite airlines. If you use Twitter, Facebook, or even just check your e-mail regularly; then you can score sweet deals that airlines release just to their online fanbase. I’ve found flights started at $9 each way this way! Smaller budget airlines like JetBlue frequently run these type of promotions for domestic flights. But you can find some international deals this way as well.
