My family didn't have much money but they specifically took jobs that gave them the airline discounts and the schedule flexibility to make sure we spent part of the year living, travelling, or working somewhere outside the U.S. As much as I complained about not having nice clothes or a Nintendo, looking back that is the greatest gift I ever had. I love having affinity with cultures outside my own, friendships spanning decades and thousands of miles, and usually the best stories in the room. I'm seriously getting the bug again, after this year I'm going on sabbatical. Oh, and so you don't give me crap for not going NOW- I'm driving to Vancouver on Tuesday. :) I couldn’t agree more.
